This natural disaster has not only decimated homes but also left families grappling with the aftermath, facing immense challenges in rebuilding their lives. At HND, we believe in the power of community and the importance of standing together in times of need.

The Hmong Community in North Carolina

The Hmong community in North Carolina is a vibrant and diverse group that has contributed significantly to the cultural and economic landscape of the state. Many Hmong families in the region have deep-rooted ties to agriculture, small businesses, and local organizations that strengthen the fabric of their communities. However, recent events have placed a heavy burden on these families, particularly in rural areas that are already underserved.

The Impact of Hurricane Helene

Our conversations with local leaders and community members highlight the urgent need for support—both immediate relief and long-term rebuilding efforts. Many have lost not only their homes but also their livelihoods, as crops and businesses were destroyed by the storm.

HND’s Commitment to Support

In response to this crisis, HND has launched a fundraising initiative to provide immediate relief to the Hmong community in North Carolina. Our goal is to raise funds to help with emergency relief efforts, including shelter, food, and essential supplies, as well as to support long-term recovery efforts such as rebuilding homes and restoring livelihoods.

We are collaborating with local organizations such as the North Carolina Hmong Women Association, government agencies, and community leaders to ensure that resources are distributed equitably and that the most vulnerable members of the community are reached. Additionally, we are committed to raising awareness about the unique challenges facing the Hmong community in the wake of this disaster.
