HND has been a cornerstone of national advocacy for the Hmong American community since its founding in 1993. Through strategic partnerships, HND has engaged policymakers and key stakeholders to address issues such as immigration, education, healthcare, economic development, and veterans’ rights.

HND has also played a pivotal role in securing legislative wins, such as the relocation of Hmong refugees from Wat Tham Krabok and efforts to correct the mislabeling of Hmong individuals under post-9/11 laws. By fostering civic engagement, conducting national conferences, and building coalitions, HND amplifies Hmong voices on critical issues, ensuring the community’s needs are heard at the national level.
