HND is seeking nominations for its 2009 Annual Community Leader Awards

13th HNC Community Leader Awards Recipients 
The Annual Community Leader Awards provide an opportunity for community members to nominate, honor and recognize the community leadership and contribution of a peer, colleague, student, parent, educator and leader.  All award recipients are invited to attend the 14th Hmong National Conference where they will receive their award during the Hmong Leadership Banquet. HND seeks award nominations in the following categories:
  • Youth Leadership Award recognizing a Hmong youth who has demonstrated exceptional leadership potential in affecting positive socio-economic and/or political changes on behalf of the Hmong American community;  
  • Community Service Award honoring a Hmong community member who has dedicated their time and resources to helping the community;
  • Pioneer Award recognizing the contributions of Hmong trailblazers who are creating a new road for Hmong to travel on; and
  • Teacher of the Year Award acknowledges a Hmong educator’s hard-work and dedication to advancing education on behalf of the Hmong American community.  
To have your candidate considered for the 2009 Community Leaders Award, please submit the following to HND by January 2, 2009:
  1. 1-2 pages nomination letter;
  2. Contact information for both candidate and nominator;
  3. Photograph; and/or
  4. Optional documents – such as secondary letters of support, resume, biographical information for the candidate, and/or copies of press coverage, sample work, etc.

Internships

 HND is committed to building the capacity of the next generation of leaders. Through internship opportunities, HND provides students with hands-on experience working in a national non-profit organization. Additionally, interns gain experience working with other local and national organizations and leaders on issues that impact the Hmong. HND offers internships in our DC office throughout the year.
