Standing up for our values and shared concerns requires active and unwavering participation in the democratic process through public policy change, and in finding and developing resources to face ongoing challenges and emerging opportunities. At HND, we believe it is important to acknowledge and appreciate our cultural heritage and our future. We recognize the differences and similiarities that exist among Hmong American communities in the United States and respect each community's definition of Hmong heritage and culture. Nonetheless, through the heritage of connection and caring, HND believes the community must act as one to speak up on behalf of Hmong who are vulnerable in society, including those facing poverty, disability, health and educational disparities and disempowerment. HND works with local Hmong organizations, businesses and individuals through various programs to create a grassroots network that channels and amplifies the Hmong American voice in Washington, DC.

Our core programming areas include: economic development, education, and social justice. Within each core programming area, HND focuses on helping local Hmong organizations, businesses, and individuals through capacity building, leadership development, and/or advocacy & civic engagement.
